My Own Flickr Tips! :-)

So hello guys!
In need of a few tips? Basically when i first started using Flickr, i didnt even know how to upload a photo or even how powerful the site i was on actually was!

Upload a photo:
So this is the easiest thing in the world- after setting up an account- select 'Home' and then there is a toolbar to the top of the page- select 'Upload' and 'Basic Uploader' (near the bottom of the page! Easy Peasy!

Tips!

Please note these are my own personal tips.

When i first got the hang of flickr i would add my photos to a zillion award groups! I now realise this does not make my photos fantastically amazing just because i have reached 50+ comments, it just means people are following the rules of these groups.

In my opinion, The photos you share should be acknowledged and given either critical or complimentary feedback, (critical helps you grow the most though, so dont take anything too much to heart! Unless it's just obscene and just block whoever is saying it- they're not worth your time if they are going to drag you down)
So i would avoid posting to lots of award groups. They are plain, tacky the person posting the award is either only doing it to follow the rules of a group, or to gain the slightest hope that this will mean you will look at their stream without the effort of physically looking and giving you a personal opinion (which means so much more than a shiny star icon saying 'best shot!') add to groups that relate to your photo, e.g if you take a photo of a duck, add it to 'beautiful ducks' group and see other peoples work similar to yours to enjoy and learn from! :-)

If you're just after your comment number to go up- then feel free to add to a zillion award groups- just remember to follow the rules as it may result in being banned!  I used to be an addict ;-D

Contacts:

Contacts are good for getting to know other photographers who take brilliant photos! My advice would be not to just add everyone who's photostreams you go on, in the hope that they will add you back because this does not mean they will acknowledge your work every time you upload! Find interesting photos, comment the them if you wish. You don't have to do this all the time on every photo, but we all like a little nice feedback from a familiar person at least every once in a while!:-) and you will slowly see they start to get regularly involved with your work back (hopefully!), so long as you put the effort in too, people will notice :-)

Any questions- Please dont be afraid to Formspring it :-D
